Job Description

The Associate Director of Marketing and Sales works in tandem with the Executive Associate Ad for External Affairs, the Associate Director of Fan Experience, and the Marketing Graduate Assistant to increase fan attendance, positive brand awareness and revenue generation for Creighton Athletics. Experience working efficiently and cooperatively with student-athletes, coaches, and staff is needed. Strong interpersonal skills are preferred. Organizational skills, time management skills and ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines are required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusive excellence is required. This position will oversee the Marketing Graduate Assistant and gameday intern group in coordination with the Associate Director of Fan Experience.

The Creighton University Athletic Department is now accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Marketing and Advertising. This position will report to the Executive Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. Creighton, located in Omaha, Nebraska, competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the BIG EAST Conference.

This Associate Director of Marketing and Sales will provide strong vision, leadership, management, coordination, execution, and oversight of the department’s marketing unit in tandem with the Associate Director of Fan Experience. 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop and execute marketing and ticket plans for select Creighton sports, with a focus of increasing attendance and revenue generation. Partner with communications, creative, ticketing and other in house departments on the rollout and execution of marketing plans.
• Coordinate all advertising for Creighton Athletics including copyrighting, scripts, social media, print advertising, etc.
• Serve as primary oversight for Creighton Athletic advertising, including email communication, print and digital advertising and other channels, as the primary designer.
• Serve as the primary contact for licensing and brand management serving as the main point of contact with retailers, vendors and overall logo management in coordination with University Communications. Provide strategic vision to grow revenue through licensing sales and opportunities.
• In coordination with senior administration and ticket office, develop group, season and single-game ticket strategies and campaigns for ticketed sports to meet department wide financial objectives.
• Utilize data analytics to inform marketing strategies, assess fan engagement metrics and continually improve campaigns based on performance data.
• Develop innovative methods to reach new fans while engaging and retaining the existing fan base through ticket sales and Jaybacker memberships.
• Assist with the locating and the sales for group ticket opportunities.
• Assist in growing corporate partnership revenue and managing relationships with key partners.
• Develop innovative ways to promote our athletic teams and branding through emerging technology and other creative outlets.
• Assist the Associate Director of Fan Experience and Director of Spirit Programs with enhancing the in-venue fan experience.
• Assist with on-campus communication efforts and continuously finding new ways to help grassroot advertising and promotion of Creighton Athletics.
• Other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for creating a dynamic advertising and email communication program to increase ticket sales and revenue generation
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of all marketing and promotions strategies
  • Execution of gameday programming and show execution
  • Collaborate with other units within Athletics
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field required
• Master’s degree or advanced education, preferred
• 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or equivalent leadership experience required(GA experience accepted)
• Experience in creating or overseeing the creation of marketing plans, brand strategy or ticket sales and service plans
• Experience with budget management
• Direct experience in a Division I athletic department or professional sports organization
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Working knowledge of TM1 marketing program (Required)
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
