JOB TITLE:  Content Writer, Science
LOCATION: Remote
COMPENSATION: $40/hr

From English learners, multilingual students, bilingual students and dual language learners who are struggling to read or write, Summit K12’s online, standards-based supplemental curriculum will close gaps and ensure growth for all students.

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Content Writer with physics subject matter expertise to join our collaborative and innovative team. In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with a team of writers, editors, and instructional designers to develop student-centered science curriculum. Your work will support meaningful learning experiences grounded in three-dimensional science standards, emphasizing sensemaking, scientific argumentation, and hands-on investigation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to develop error-free, engaging, high-quality instructional materials that are aligned to high school physics standards.
  2. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for K–12 physical science content, providing guidance on scientific accuracy, coherence across grade levels, and alignment to standards.
  3. Collaborate with team members to create instructional materials that proactively address common student misconceptions and support deep conceptual understanding.
  4. Design 3D assessments that integrate the TEKS, science and engineering practices (SEPs), and recurring themes and concepts (RTCs).
  5. Incorporate authentic phenomena in lessons and assessments, allowing students to apply learning in meaningful, real-world contexts and demonstrating the integration of all three dimensions of science education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science field such as Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with teaching experience in science disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply, even if their degree is not specifically in physics.
  2. Five or more years of high school physics teaching experience.
  3. Deep understanding of core physics concepts (kinematics, electromagnetism, optics, etc.)
  4. Familiarity with the revised Texas science standards (TEKS).
  5. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics clearly.
  6. Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects efficiently, adapt to changing needs, and reliably complete high-quality work independently.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in breaking down complex scientific ideas for educational purposes.
  8. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team of authors, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Familiarity with NGSS and 3D learning (disciplinary core ideas, SEPs, and crosscutting concepts).
  2. Background in instructional design or curriculum development.
  3. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, assessment design, or educational publishing.
  4. Experience teaching additional science subjects (e.g., chemistry, biology, IPC, middle school) is a plus.
