Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for cost analysis and process improvement? We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Marquette, MI. In this role, you will play a key part in analyzing production costs in a highly regulated medical manufacturing environment, ensuring profitability, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

### What You'll Do:
- Manage monthly financial close activities, including inventory valuation, standard cost variance analysis, operations productivity, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare adjusting journal entries related to operational cost accounting
- Review and analyze purchase price variance (PPV) reports to ensure accurate reporting
- Establish and maintain labor and overhead rates
- Support external audits and tax preparation functions
- Conduct work-in-process (WIP) audits
- Provide cost analysis to support the annual budgeting process
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for new and existing products
- Collaborate with operational management to improve controls, accuracy, and quality of manufacturing costs
- Track and record fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments in the accounting system
- Work with finance staff to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, variance analysis, inventory analysis, and financial statement preparation
- Partner with various departments to develop and maintain the product costing system
### What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or medical device environment
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP)
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Ability to analyze complex data, draw meaningful insights, and communicate findings effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and influence decision-making
