Forklift/Overhead Crane Operator

Local Company looking to expand their Shipping department. If you have the skills, they have the job!

Position –Loader

Job Location –  Oshkosh, WI

Starting Date –  ASAP

Employment Term –  Temp-to-Hire

Employment Type –  Full-Time

Work Hours (Shift) –  Mon-Fri 7am-3pm

Starting Pay – $19 per hour

Required Education –  High School Diploma/GED

Required Experience –  At least 1 years of experience

As the Loader you will be responsible for  loading semi-trucks with outgoing finished products. The majority of the work is on a forklift, but will require some overhead crane use also. The ability to multi-task through interruptions and stay organized is desired. Trucks come in when they come in and the employee will have to problem solve, leaving and return to, non-time-sensitive tasks as needed. Additionally, keeping organized with where loads are staged and stored is a huge component to this role.

Responsibilities

• Locates material and moves the material to the appropriate area using a forklift or overhead crane. Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds of material. Product in excess of 50 pounds must be moved either via team lift or use of appropriate device(s). 

• Loads material onto truck trailers via forklift or overhead crane. Must properly space and arrange material for optimal delivery sequence.

• Verifies material to confirm correct items are placed on trucks according to manifest and weight.

• Loads materials in such a manner as to ensure proper weight distribution and to ensure that material will reach the customer destination in a safe and presentable manner.

• Completes associated paperwork in accordance with company guidelines. Completes the order on the mainframe computer system by wanding the order and accurately entering required information.

• Prepares shipping tags using the department computer or by completing the tag manually if necessary.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes with related equipment and forklifts.

• Ability to perform simple math including addition and subtraction.

• Ability to read basic blueprints

• Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.

• Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, as well as lift and move heavier objects with the assistance of cranes, forklifts, or another employee.
