Job Description

Position Summary:

The Special Needs Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual and directional oversight for the Embrace ministry programming for individuals of all abilities and ages. This role will work closely with the Fellowship Kids staff team to ensure successful curriculum implementation, event execution, and the overall discipleship strategy for the Embrace ministry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide effective leadership and oversight for the Embrace ministry including vision and Sunday morning programming, which also aligns with the mission and vision of Fellowship
  • Provide leadership and vision for Embrace ministry multisite initiatives aligning all campuses in vision, curriculum, and programming
  • Manage check-in and develop effective methods for following up with new families that register for Embrace classes and events including guests
  • Lead staff in on-going recruitment for volunteer roles in Embrace ministry implementing a comprehensive training schedule for all volunteers that equips them to serve
  • Oversee and encourage the professional and personal development of Special Needs Coordinator through regular one-on-one meetings, training, and spiritual shepherding
  • Connect relationally with individuals, parents, volunteers, and the body on Sunday mornings by being present in hallways and classrooms, when available
  • Plan, lead, and execute Under the Stars special needs prom
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

Education and Experience:

  • College Degree
  • Nonprofit or ministry experience a plus
  • Experience working with the special needs community a plus

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and creating flyers on Canva
  • Proficient in Facebook and Instagram for posting to Special Needs Ministry pages
  • A heart for the discipleship of children and parents at Fellowship Midtown.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to organize special needs for Sunday services and childcare events.
  • Relational with staff, parents, and children.
  • Lead Wednesday morning and D group childcare.
  • Lead/assist with other special childcare or special needs events, when needed.
  • Ability to solve problems with childcare issues including getting substitutes for classes.
  • Work with other Fellowship campuses and staff to maintain our Special Needs and childcare ministry at Midtown.

  • Living out the spiritual principles outlined in the “Code of Conduct”
