Job Description

UAA Student Engagement is looking for an experienced Operations Assistant to research, reconcile, and prepare monthly financial management reports and process daily requests for financial transactions.

The Operations Assistant plays a key fiscal support role within Student Engagement, responsible for a variety of purchasing, reconciliation, and deposit-related tasks across multiple funding sources. This position manages ProCard documentation, processes purchase requisitions, reimbursements, and scholarships, and ensures compliance with university fiscal policies. It also supervises student staff responsible for sundry sales deposits and maintains oversight of the Student Union’s change fund. The Operations Assistant serves as a key liaison for fiscal operations, supporting departmental accuracy, compliance, and continuity.

To thrive in this role, candidates should bring strong fiscal and administrative expertise grounded in a solid understanding of cash handling, purchasing, and accounting procedures, including GAAP principles. Success requires excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, interruption-prone environment. Proficiency with financial systems such as Banner Finance, Microsoft Excel, PDF software, and general office equipment is essential. The role demands the ability to navigate confidential financial data with accuracy and discretion, while also communicating effectively with students, staff, faculty, and the public. Strong problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills—especially in training, conflict resolution, and independent decision-making—are key to excelling in this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in applied Accounting or related field and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
