Leidos is seeking a Director of Nuclear Materials and Technology Development to join our diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The Advanced Materials Department, as part of the Hypersonics Division and Defense Systems Sector, operates in a diverse, fast-paced environment working on research, development, technology transition, prototyping, and production efforts that are critically enabled by materials operating in extreme environments.
Primary Responsibilities
As part of the Advanced Materials Department, the successful candidate will provide technical, programmatic, and business development leadership across a diverse portfolio. Specific responsibilities will include:
+ Serve as a nuclear applications and advanced materials subject matter expert across various programs and capture activities on an as needed basis.
+ Collaborate across internal organizations as well as government, industry, academic, and national lab partners to develop new technical solutions and program concepts with strategic alignment to Defense Sector objectives.
+ Lead or support business development, capture management, proposal writing, and technical solutioning
+ Perform program management on an as needed basis for projects particularly aligned with the candidate's portfolio focus and expertise
+ Work with other Department and Division leadership to assess current capabilities and define strategic capability growth paths
+ Provide technical mentorship to more junior staff in the domain of materials science & nuclear engineering
The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, comfortable with and having demonstrated the ability to navigate obstacles in technology, funding, program structure, and stakeholder relationships in order to deliver on our customers' missions.
Basic Qualifications
+ This position requires an Bachelors Degree and 20 years of applicable experience.
+ A technical degree in a physics, materials, or chemistry related science or engineering field.
+ This position requires significant professional experience in nuclear applications
+ Must have experience in direct technical program or project management
+ Must have experience building and managing a technical portfolio of over $10M
+ Experience in business development, capture management, proposal writing, or grant application writing
+ Experience leading advanced material focused test projects
Preferred Qualifications
+ Background in modeling and simulation of material phenomena
+ A technical portfolio including published journal articles and/or patent applications, or a similar body of work outside of the public domain
+ A Masters Degree and 15 years relevant experience or PhD with 13 years of relevant experience
+ Experience working collaboratively with government, industry, academia, and national labs to build and execute programs.

**Pay Range:**
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
